Disruptive. Captivating. Iconic. The Rado Tribute to Le Corbusier
Disruptive, captivating, iconic: Rado’s new watches translate Le Corbusier’s bold architecture and Polychromie colours into wearable art.
Disruptive. Captivating. Iconic.
Three words that define Le Corbusier and a new collection of Rado timepieces. This special-edition series, created in collaboration with Les Couleurs Suisse®, translates the bold architecture, sculptural forms, and striking colours of the modernist master into wearable art.
Minimalist Elegance: La Cité Radieuse
Inspired by the 1952 Marseille apartment block, the first watch captures the texture of béton-brut concrete in a laser-engraved Ivory White high-tech ceramic dial. Hands in subtle blues echo Le Corbusier’s Polychromie Architecturale, marrying minimalist elegance with tactile innovation.
Monochromatic Power: Carpenter Center
Le Corbusier’s only North American building, the Carpenter Center (Cambridge, Massachusetts), is evoked in Iron Grey ceramic. Its sculptural forms are punctuated by lacquered hands in cream, orange, and green; a bold play of colour against austere concrete.
Monumental Design: Chandigarh
The final edition draws on Chandigarh’s Palace of Assembly. Ivory Black ceramic meets vibrant accents of orange and green, translating monumental architecture into the intimacy of a wristwatch.
Each timepiece features Rado’s sensuous, scratch-resistant ceramic and an 80-hour power reserve. On the back, 63 digitally printed colour strips showcase the full Polychromie Architecturale palette, framing the automatic movement beneath a sapphire crystal.
By marrying the father of modernism with the Master of Materials, Rado has crafted watches that are not just timekeepers; they are miniature monuments, as disruptive, captivating, and iconic as Le Corbusier himself.
