Girard-Perregaux Winds Up the Future with the GP4800
Girard-Perregaux’s new Calibre GP4800 blends heritage with cutting-edge watchmaking, delivering precision, beauty and modernity.

Girard-Perregaux, the historic Swiss watch Manufacture renowned for over two centuries of innovation, has revealed its latest creation, the Calibre GP4800.
This new in-house movement represents a statement of intent from one of Haute Horlogerie’s most revered names, combining exceptional engineering with the Maison’s artistic DNA.

Since its founding in 1791, Girard-Perregaux has been a pioneer of the integrated manufacture, designing and producing its own movements entirely under one roof.
This mastery has given rise to legendary milestones, from Constant Girard’s Tourbillon with Three Bridges to the revolutionary High Frequency movement of 1965 and the award-winning Constant Escapement L.M. of 2013.
The Calibre GP4800 now takes its place in this illustrious lineage, embodying the harmony between innovation, tradition and aesthetics.

It has been conceived as a ground-up creation, free from technical compromise. Measuring just 25.60 mm in diameter and 4.28 mm thick, it is both compact and versatile, offering the Manufacture the ability to add complications in future developments.
Despite its slender profile, the movement hosts an array of refinements that elevate precision, reliability and beauty.
At its heart lies a state-of-the-art silicium escapement, lightweight, non-magnetic and exceptionally resistant to wear, paired with a stop-seconds function for precise time-setting.

A variable-inertia balance, regulated by four white gold timing screws, provides meticulous rate adjustment while enhancing resistance to shocks.
Together, these elements deliver a robust 55-hour power reserve, representing a leap forward in performance and user convenience.
Beyond its mechanical prowess, the GP4800 is a feast for the eyes. Beneath the skeletonised 18K gold oscillating weight lie three bridges inspired by the iconic design of 1867, underscoring Girard-Perregaux’s devotion to symmetry and architectural beauty.

The finishing is nothing short of a symphony, with ten distinct decorative techniques including Côtes de Genève, diamond bevelling and sandblasted mainplates, ensuring the movement is as captivating to behold as it is to wear.
Even hidden surfaces are treated with the same reverence as visible ones, featuring circular graining and polished motifs.
This level of detail reaffirms the Manufacture’s commitment to the highest traditions of Haute Horlogerie while embracing a modern, contemporary aesthetic.
The unveiling of the Calibre GP4800 is an affirmation of Girard-Perregaux’s place as a guardian of mechanical artistry and innovation.

This new-generation calibre will power several forthcoming timepieces, offering collectors and connoisseurs a rare opportunity to experience the brand’s philosophy of form meeting function in its purest expression.
With over 230 years of expertise, more than 30 active calibres and 80 patents, Girard-Perregaux continues to define the art of movement.
The GP4800 is a testament to enduring excellence, crafted for those who demand both beauty and precision.
