Girard-Perregaux’s Laureato Turns Fifty in Style
A refined tribute to fifty years of the Laureato, blending timeless design, two-tone elegance, and Girard-Perregaux’s quiet mastery.
True longevity in watchmaking is rare. Trends change, icons fade, yet Girard-Perregaux’s Laureato has maintained a quiet authority since its introduction in 1975.
To mark its fiftieth year, the maison unveils the Laureato Fifty, a numbered edition that honours the original’s clarity while expressing a distinctly modern sensibility.
The Laureato’s architecture remains unmistakable: an octagonal bezel resting on a circular base, flowing seamlessly into an integrated bracelet. In the Fifty, this geometry is reimagined with subtle precision.

The 39-millimetre case measures a refined 9.8 millimetres in height, creating balanced proportions that feel effortlessly contemporary. Brushed and polished surfaces alternate with controlled rhythm, catching light softly rather than demanding it.
With 150 metres of water resistance, the Fifty remains a genuine sports-luxury piece; versatile enough for daily wear, yet crafted with the discretion expected of a Girard-Perregaux.
This anniversary edition revisits the original two-tone aesthetic, pairing cool steel with warm 3N yellow gold. The contrast gives the watch a quiet distinction without nostalgia.

The bracelet’s domed gold centre links reflect light fluidly as the wrist moves, while the tapering steel edges anchor the composition in strength.
The dial deepens this interplay. A grey sunray finish, enhanced by a fine Clous de Paris pattern, adds texture without excess. Gold baton markers and slender hands echo the case accents.
Even the date disc has been carefully colour-matched to the dial, ensuring every element feels intentional and balanced.
Through the sapphire back, the Laureato Fifty reveals the new GP4800 calibre; a compact, automatic movement that captures the brand’s blend of artistry and engineering.

The 55-hour power reserve, silicon escapement and variable inertia balance underline its technical refinement. A 3N gold rotor connects the mechanics to the case’s palette, reinforcing the watch’s coherence from dial to movement.
The design of the calibre itself subtly recalls the maison’s celebrated Three Bridges architecture. What was once reserved for haute horlogerie now underpins an everyday movement, extending Girard-Perregaux’s mechanical language into the core of its collection.
The Laureato Fifty doesn’t chase spectacle. Its strength lies in measured execution, with a focus on proportion, texture, and feel. The 39-millimetre size is universally wearable, while the improved bracelet and clasp offer tangible comfort.

The on-the-fly micro-adjustment of four millimetres is a practical touch that makes a daily difference.
There’s a maturity to the design that speaks of continuity rather than reinvention. This is not a nostalgic reissue, but a confident evolution; the kind that only half a century of steady refinement can produce.
Limited to 200 pieces, the Laureato Fifty will be available through Girard-Perregaux boutiques and select retailers from October 2025.

For collectors, it represents a considered moment in the Laureato’s story; an anniversary watch designed not for the safe but for the wrist.
